This explains what we collect when you book with us, why we collect it, who else sees it, and how to get it back or have it deleted. We are a small owner-operated business and we do not sell your information to anyone.

Who we are

Shrink Wrap Muskoka is a Muskoka Detail company operating from 215 Main St W, Bay Door B7, Huntsville, Ontario P1H 1Y1. You can reach us at (705) 783-8458 or [email protected]. We are responsible for the personal information described here, and we handle it under Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

What we collect

We only ask for what we need to store your boat and get it back to you. We do not require an account to browse the site.

WhatWhy we need it
Name, email address, phone numberTo confirm your booking, send your receipt, and reach you about pickup and spring return.
Your lake, and the address where we collect the boatTo find you on pickup day and to price transport correctly.
Boat make, model, length, type and stated value; whether a trailer is includedTo assign the right space, price the season, and declare the correct value to our insurer.
Access notes and preferred pickup and return windowsTo get in and out of your property without needing to call you.
Services you select and the price you were quotedTo perform the work and bill it accurately.
Photographs of your boatCondition photos at intake, after wrapping, and mid-winter, so both of us have a record of its state.
How you heard about us, and any partner referral codeTo pay our marina and dealer partners what they are owed.
Email address and password, if you create an accountTo let you view your own bookings. Passwords are stored hashed; we never see or store the password itself.

We never see your card. Card payments are handled entirely by Stripe on their own systems. Your card number does not pass through, and is not stored on, this website or our database.

What we do not do

Cookies

This site sets one cookie, and only if you create an account and sign in: a session cookie that keeps you logged in. It is strictly necessary for the account area to work and it carries no advertising or tracking function. Clearing it signs you out. There are no other cookies on the site.

Who else handles your information

We use a small number of service providers to actually run the business. Each one receives only what it needs for its job, and none of them are permitted to use your information for their own purposes.

ProviderWhat they handle
StripeCard payments. They receive your name, email and payment details directly.
CloudflareHosting for this website, the booking database, and stored photographs.
TwilioText messages about your booking. They receive your phone number and the message.
ResendEmail confirmations and receipts. They receive your email address and the message.
GoogleOur business email, and the fonts this site uses. Loading a page requests those fonts from Google, which means Google sees the request.

Some of these providers operate servers outside Canada, including in the United States. Where that is the case, your information may be stored or processed there and may be accessible to courts and law enforcement in that country under its laws.

We will also disclose information where the law requires it, or where it is necessary to establish or defend a legal claim, for example an insurance claim on a damaged boat.

How long we keep it

Booking records, including the photographs of your boat, are kept for seven years after the season ends. That is the retention period our accountant and our insurer need: a storage claim can surface long after the boat has gone home, and the condition photos are the evidence that protects both of us. Marketing subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Account records are kept until you ask us to close the account.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

Email [email protected] or call (705) 783-8458 and we will respond within 30 days. There is no charge. If you are not satisfied with how we have handled a privacy question, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS. Passwords are hashed rather than stored. Booking records and photographs sit behind an administrator login available only to us and our staff. No system is perfectly secure, but if a breach ever affected your information in a way that created a real risk of significant harm, we would tell you and report it as the law requires.

Children

This is a service for boat owners and it is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we handle information we already hold about you, we will contact you directly rather than relying on you to notice.
